How to Use Kanopy

Hi. In this video, I am going to show you the basics of using Kanopy, the new film streaming service you have access to through the Deerfield Public Library. I'll show you on a desktop first, but there's also an app for all devices including smart TVs. Start at Deerfield library Kanopy or get the link below this video or on our website. First click sign up in the upper right hand corner and enter a name, email address, and password. Check your email and click on the verification link. This will open up a new Kanopy window where you can enter your library card. On Kanopy you get 15 (***Determined by Specific Library System***) checkouts per calendar month and checkouts last three days. You can scroll through Kanopy’s extensive catalog, or use the search, or use the Browse tab. When you find a movie you want to check out just click on it and click 'Play.' You can see that your counter of monthly checkouts will go down once you click ‘Play.’ There's also a kid's section. You can add movies to your list, create playlists, and more. You can also use Kanopy as an app on your device or smart TV. Just sign into your account, find a movie, and click 'Play' to check out. The menu in the upper left will show your genre categories, your watch list, and what movies you currently have checked out that you're currently watching. And remember that number in the upper right is the checkouts you have left before they reset on the first of the month. Thanks for watching.
